Disney Cruise Line: Remy Featuring Pompidou's Patisseries Dessert Experience

On our recent cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy in August, we were interested in trying a new experience at the wonderful French adult-exclusive restaurant Remy.  We have loved the fabulous Champagne Brunch on previous sailings, (as well as the famous brunch at the Italian restaurant, Palo).  As family dinners together are one of the highlights of vacation for us, we are not quite ready to ditch our daughter for an adult dining experience in the evenings yet.  So this afternoon dessert experience, offered just once during a 7-night sailing, seemed the perfect fit!

The Disney Cruise Line website says, "Treat your taste buds to a sweet selection of delectable desserts. "Remy Featuring Pompidou's Patisseries Dessert Experience" is an adults-only dining event named after the dessert chef from the film Ratatouille. Enjoy a 5-course dessert menu, coffee and an in-depth discussion with the Executive Chef and Executive Pastry Chef of Remy. As each dessert is presented, they'll explain its history and evolution."

The dessert experience at Remy costs $50 per person and includes one complimentary glass of champagne.  The optional wine pairing can be added for $25 per person.  It is offered once during a 7-night sailing, at 3:30pm on the third sea day, and has a very limited number of seats.  So book early if this is something you are interested in! (If you are sailing concierge, the shoreside concierge team will book this for you at 120 days.)

To preserve the elegant atmosphere, you are asked to adhere to a strict dress code when dining at Remy.  Our experience was finished around 5pm,
and honestly, we had little to no appetite for dinner since we had the early seating at 5:45pm.

I would also mention that my husband does not eat gluten, and he was still able to partake in this wonderful experience.  The desserts were either modified or substituted for his preference.  (He does not have a severe gluten allergy, but rather a dietary preference for medical reasons.)

I wish I had taken notes during the experience since I do not remember much of what we learned along our culinary journey through these six sumptuous full sized desserts.  But I do know that I enjoyed every single bite, and said several times throughout that it was worth every penny.  And I did do well with the photos, and that must be worth something!

The chef prepared this raspberry dessert for my husband, who does not eat gluten.

Chocolat Abricot

At the end of the experience, we were each given two macarons (my husband was given gluten free macarons).  Of course, by that time we were all so full that we could not eat a bite.  But those macarons were awfully yummy as a late-night treat after a few cocktails at Skyline!

We finally booked an Adventures by Disney trip!

After sailing with Disney Cruise Line four times (and with three more future Disney Cruises booked), we have been flirting with the idea of stepping out of our travel box with an Adventures by Disney vacation for a while now. With itineraries ranging from long weekends in New York or San Francisco to eleven or twelve nights in Australia or China, ABD offers all-inclusive luxury family vacations in the real world, almost anywhere you'd wish to explore. In fact, the only thing holding us back has been deciding which would be our first. Would a short domestic trip be the way to dip our toes in all that ABD has to offer? Or would ABD be the way to finally explore Europe (but then would it be France, Italy, England)? Should we do a land trip, a culinary tour, an active adventure trip, or a river cruise (straight off my bucket list)? The possibilities are, almost literally, endless.

So when ABD announced in January the new Seine River Cruise itinerary, with seven nights on board the AmaLyra river cruise ship plus two additional nights in Paris, it definitely piqued my interest. Then I realized that 2019 will be ten years since I lost my mom, and Paris was her favorite place on earth; it is one of my deepest regrets that we did not have the chance to visit Paris together before she died. Now add to this a small inheritance that we wanted to use for something really special. All of these seemed a sort of serendipitous converging of factors, which I took to be a sign. It's time to go to Paris!

"Adventure by Disney trips are costly, but you get an all-inclusive, no-planning required vacation in the trusted hands of Disney with dedicated, experienced Adventure Guides leading the way. You will not find Mickey and Minnie Mouse (or any other Disney character) on these trips, but rather authentic stories of the local destination sprinkled with the country's own distinct traditions. If you can afford it, Adventures by Disney offers a luxurious, hassle-free vacation."
